Despite the debate on the role played by the various factors involved, most academics agree that the long era of abundant food, available at low prices, is over, and has given way to an era of new scarcity. We will seek to explain in the course of this book, that the objective of making supply meet demand growth is not impossible, but can be achieved with the contribution of research and innovation as well as suitable policies to be constructed at the global leve.
