A process is disclosed for the prepn. of prostaglandins of the PGF2a-series of formula I [R = OCHMe2, NHEt; R1 = benzyl, 3-(trifluoromethyl)benzyloxy], in particular Latanoprost, Bimatoprost and Travoprost, which are active in the treatment of ocular hypertensive conditions and glaucoma. The invention also relates to novel intermediates involved in the synthesis of these prostaglandin-PGF2a derivs. Thus, Bimatoprost was prepd. starting from com. available Corey lactone diol.
