The Future of the Euro-Mediterranean Relationships

The Foreword to the volume clarifies that the aim of the book is to identify the causes that have determined the extraordinary uprisings in the southern shore of the Mediterranean sea. In particular the Foreword affirms that the support of the European governments to the autocratic Arab regimes, the impossibility of an economic development owing to the lack of democratic forms of governments, the widespread poverty of the population, the strong demographic increase of the Arab youth are all elements that can explain the disruptive processes of political, constitutional and cultural transformation in the contemporary Arab world.
