Constitutive Rules and Coherence in Legal Argumentation: The Case of Extensive and Restrictive Interpretation

I this paper, we propose a framework for reconstructing legal arguments that support extensive or restrictive interpretations of a legal provision. In our view, these techniques correspond to revision operations in system of constitutive rules. The advantage of the proposed framework is that it makes these arguments more transparent and provides criteria for evaluating them
