The 2008-2009 and 2010 field seasons of the Aswan-Kom Ombo Archaeological Project (AKAP) focused on the ongoing geomorphological, archaeological and epigraphic survey, on rescue excavations and on the rock art study. The geomorphological survey was performed in the area of the West Bank between Qubbet el-Hawa and Wadi el-Faras; the archaeological survey was mainly concentrated on the Wadi el-Faras and Gebel es-Sawan rock art sites; while the epigraphic survey was done on the rock inscriptions at Haggar el-Ghorab, south of Kubbaniya. The rescues excavation of a Predynastic village and its northern cemetery is going on since 2007 with very interesting results although the sites are heavily disturbed by modern activities. As for the rock art, an holistic documentation has been applied, including: description, catalogue and copy of every single drawing, as well as digital documentation, stereophotogrammetry and 3D modeling of the rock art drawings and their landscape setting.
