Abstract

The MOdE, referring to museum developments within and beyond Europe, attempts to combine elements of museology with some interpretative pedagogical models in order to design a number of web-based didactic museum paths, which exploit technological innovations that are revisited to include the fundamental features of education and learning. The highly interactive Officina of Education acts as a repository offering its visitors the opportunity to: 1. extract information, unconditioned by physicality and organised flexibly to promote autonomous learning; 2. enjoy structured and customised tours according to their own interests in order to explore and expand their knowledge; 3. document the visits through the creation of areas for exchange and interpretation, known as “White Rooms”, the expression of the visitor's personal creative process; 4. take part in a community of practice comprising both students, debating the issues of museum didactics, and experts from different, heterogeneous museum backgrounds who set out to share their knowledge and experience in the field of education, science, art, both directly and on-line.
