A new edition of Aeschylus’ scholia is required, but this task is very difficult. In fact, scholars don’t accept any more the postulate that codices recentiores transmit only the most recent scholia, and it's obvius that it’s quite impossible to draw a stemma codicum. Furthemore, the relations beetween scholia and lexica are very complex: the common idea of 'lexicographic scholia' must be replaced by that of 'traditional glos'. Moreover, scholia present many variae lectiones and it's still under debate what should be the most appropriate editorial approach.
