The research aims to analyze the city of Kinshasa as a project starting from Belgian colonial planning to continue with the plan developed in the 70s. From a development of the city according to monumental axes, it moves on to a satellite city construction along a linear urban structure extending towards the east. The urban evolution of Kinshasa is analyzed quantitatively by studying its colonial and post-colonial history and the achievements of the 1976 master-plan.
