The essay presents the exhibition scheduled for the Estorick Collection in London in the fall of 2026 stems from research conducted at the Alinari Foundation for Photography Archives in Florence, which had its first major exhibition at the Magazzini delle Idee in Trieste between December 2024 and April 2025. Specifically, the London exhibition will focus on the story of the two sisters, Wanda and Marion Wulz, viewed, on the one hand, as a continuation of an important family and professional tradition—that of the photography studio they ran in Trieste until 1981—and, on the other, as an original journey of women’s emancipation and the affirmation of gender identity.
