Historical City and Visual Representation continues the work begun with previous publications on the “Historical City”, developing further the reflection on this complex theme, physical object, concept and analytical tool, but shifting the focus to explore its interrelationships with that complex system of images, visual representations and visualisations which – in the past as well as, exponentially, in the present and even in the future – represent and articulate the city, contributing to shaping its materiality, perception, governance, politics and experience. This introduction clarifies the origin of the volume and the broader context within which it is situated, and briefly outlines the content of the various chapters, detailing the contribution each author offers to the discussion.

Abstract
Historical City and Visual Representation continues the work begun with previous publications on the “Historical City”, developing further the reflection on this complex theme, physical object, concept and analytical tool, but shifting the focus to explore its interrelationships with that complex system of images, visual representations and visualisations which – in the past as well as, exponentially, in the present and even in the future – represent and articulate the city, contributing to shaping its materiality, perception, governance, politics and experience. This introduction clarifies the origin of the volume and the broader context within which it is situated, and briefly outlines the content of the various chapters, detailing the contribution each author offers to the discussion.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
