This article describes the ReLDI initiative as a case of creating and sharing linguistic resources in particularly dif cult socioeconomic conditions created by the breakup of former Yugoslavia. It shows how transnational cooperation can make up for the lack of national infrastructure and outlines the main achievements of the initiativedshared linguistic resources and empirical studies of linguistic microvariation in BCMS.
