The essay examines generative AI systems through the lens of the ‘artificial author’, testing ChatGPT both as a research assistant and in the generation of literary texts, in a close examination of how humans receive texts in a world increasingly dominated by automation. The role of the author is explored theoretically in light of this comparison with artificial authorship.

Il saggio riflette sui sistemi di IA generativa nei termini di “autore artificiale”, mettendo alla prova ChatGPT sia come assistente alla ricerca che sulla generazione di testi letterari, in un serrato confronto intorno alle modalità di ricezione umana dei testi in un mondo sempre più votato all’automazione. La funzione autore viene indagata teoricamente alla luce del confronto con l'autorialità artificiale.
