The workshop was a moment of deep examination of the knowledge on nitrogen nutrition of plant cultivation and its environmental implications. Special focus was the evaluation of the nitrogen effect on the carbon sequestration in soil. The works were organised in two sessions. The first session dealt with general topics, such as the relationships between nitrogen and carbon cycles, the plant production linked to the nitrogen nutrition, the effects of the fertilization practises on the soil functionality, the main methodologies in the study of soil nitrogen pools. An introductive lecture on the future topics of “nitrogen” research opened the second session devoted to the presentation and discussion of study cases proposed by PhD students and young researchers. This workshop was part of a cycle of formative and informative events for young researchers organised by the III and IV Commissions of SISS with the collaboration of CRA and universities.

Abstract
This workshop was part of a cycle of formative and informative events for young researchers organised by the III and IV Commissions of SISS with the collaboration of CRA and universities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
