Although ISO 22157:2021 standardises bamboo materials tests, there are a number of non-standardised tests that have been proposed and adopted in the literature. This chapter enumerates those sufficiently established to be readily included in future revisions of ISO 22157. Alternative test arrangements for determining longitudinal shear and transverse bending—each complementing existing ISO 22157 methods are proposed. A means of adopting well-established small-specimen flexure tests typically used for fibre reinforced polymer materials and plastics is proposed. A unique flat-ring flexure is also proposed. A protocol, adopting other test methods, for establishing creep properties is proposed.
