The primary objective of the TRACE-AtlantIC project is to expand the knowledge in the oceanographic distribution of long-lived radionuclides U-236 and I-129 and their isotopic ratios to acquire a better understanding on how fast and intense Atlantification is ongoing in Arctic fjords. To do so, a selection of full-depth profiles of water samples from Arctic fiords located in the western Svalbard (Kongsfjorden-Krossfjorden) will be collected, processed, and then measured and interpreted for these novel transient oceanographic tracers. The secondary objective of the project is to fit U-236 and I-129 data with salinity-temperature time-series data into oceanographic models to quantify the transport time and mixing regimes of Atlantic waters into Arctic fjords located in the western Svalbard.

Abstract
The primary objective of the TRACE-AtlantIC project is to expand the knowledge in the oceanographic distribution of long-lived radionuclides U-236 and I-129 and their isotopic ratios to acquire a better understanding on how fast and intense Atlantification is ongoing in Arctic fjords. To do so, a selection of full-depth profiles of water samples from Arctic fiords located in the western Svalbard (Kongsfjorden-Krossfjorden) will be collected, processed, and then measured and interpreted for these novel transient oceanographic tracers. The secondary objective of the project is to fit U-236 and I-129 data with salinity-temperature time-series data into oceanographic models to quantify the transport time and mixing regimes of Atlantic waters into Arctic fjords located in the western Svalbard.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
