La riforma dell’assistenza territoriale sanitaria in Emilia-Romagna

This paper analyses, starting from some contextual data and based on specific evolutionary trends, the regional healthcare scenario, which is characterised by profound demographic changes that have direct implications for healthcare planning. The accelerated ageing of the population, together with the prevalence of chronic and degenerative diseases, which are more common among the elderly, have forced Emilia-Romagna to rethink the overall paradigm of the organisation of healthcare facilities and services at the regional level, in line with the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) or Ministerial Decree No. 77/2022, undertaking a reform aimed at enhancing and strengthening the territorial dimension of the regional health service by establishing structures and facilities to meet the needs of the communities in question.
