THE MEDIEVAL VALLOMBROSAN CALENDARS IN THE FLORENTINE LIBRARIES (12TH- 14TH CENTURIES). Five medieval manuscript calendars (from 12th to 14th century), written for Vallombrosan monasteries, are preserved in the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana and the Archivio di Stato of Florence. These calendars, being mobile texts open to modifications through updates, reveal a complex dialogue between different centers, leading to the creation of a composite identity. By analyzing the saints present in these calendars, we can identify overlapping components: local, diocesan, monastic, Roman, and Vallombrosan (congregational). The local identity is defined by the patron saint of the monastery, to which are added the cults of the belonging diocese, the common Roman sanctoral, and the monk saints. Furthermore, starting from the 13th century, the Vallombrosan identity strengthens with the spread of the cult of Saint John Gualbert, the founder of Vallombrosa.

Abstract
Furthermore, starting from the 13th century, the Vallombrosan identity strengthens with the spread of the cult of Saint John Gualbert, the founder of Vallombrosa.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
