In this selective review, we provide an analysis of the literature on misconceptions about psychological science, focusing specifically on those that students endorse when first introduced to scientific psychology during their undergraduate studies, and they often continue to endorse, at least partially, even after completing introductory psychology courses. First, we will discuss various definitions of misconceptions in psychology and explore hypotheses regarding their origins. Then, we will review different proposals for correcting misconceptions, based on the relationship between misconceptions, refutation methods, critical thinking, and conceptual change.

Abstract
In this selective review, we provide an analysis of the literature on misconceptions about psychological science, focusing specifically on those that students endorse when first introduced to scientific psychology during their undergraduate studies, and they often continue to endorse, at least partially, even after completing introductory psychology courses. First, we will discuss various definitions of misconceptions in psychology and explore hypotheses regarding their origins. Then, we will review different proposals for correcting misconceptions, based on the relationship between misconceptions, refutation methods, critical thinking, and conceptual change.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
