Donne e mestieri: riflessioni di metodo sulle fonti documentarie tra Levante fenicio e Occidente punico

The jobs and the professional roles of female components in Phoenician and Punic communities are very complex to define with respect to the documentation available. A significant difficulty relates to the identification in archaeological contexts of materials evidencing the existence of particular trades or specific professional skills of women. A further problem lies in the correct interpretation of the iconographic data relevant to this topic. The purpose of this study is to propose some methodological considerations on the reliability of the sources to which scholars can turn in order to address the topic correctly.
