This volume presents a facsimile edition and an extensive introductory study of Manuscript 338 of the Biblioteca Comunale preserved at the Sacro Convento in Assisi, a key witness to early Franciscan textual culture. The curators frame the manuscript within its historical, institutional, and cultural contexts, combining codicological, palaeographical, textual, and historical analysis to reconstruct its production, transmission, and use. Particular attention is devoted to the material structure of the codex, its script, decoration, and layout, as well as to its role in shaping and disseminating Franciscan identity during the formative decades of the Order. The facsimile edition is conceived not merely as a tool for preservation, but as a scholarly instrument that enables direct engagement with the manuscript as an artefact, encouraging renewed investigation of Franciscan sources through their materiality. By integrating rigorous philological method with a broader interpretative framework, the volume positions Manuscript 338 as a foundational source for the study of medieval Franciscan history and manuscript culture, while offering a model for future facsimile-based research.

Abstract
By integrating rigorous philological method with a broader interpretative framework, the volume positions Manuscript 338 as a foundational source for the study of medieval Franciscan history and manuscript culture, while offering a model for future facsimile-based research.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
