The Single-Cycle Master’s Degree Programme in Architecture at the University of Bologna was established in 1999 as the Faculty of Architecture within the Cesena Campus. The following year, the Faculty was named after Aldo Rossi, a master architect capable of combining historical memory with design research, and a central reference figure for architectural culture both in Italy and abroad. From its inception, the Faculty positioned itself as an active laboratory for teaching and research in the field of architecture. Rossi’s vision, focused on the study of the city and the value of typological references, has provided a space for theoretical exchange among the teaching staff who, despite their diverse backgrounds and approaches, have intertwined their experiences in pursuit of a sense of disciplinary continuity that embraces digressions and experimentations of various kinds within the field of architectural design.
