The hybridization theme presented in this chapter is Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, which are emerging as key sectors for public policies. Starting from a presentation of the documents produced by the EU Parliament and Commission (2017–2019) (Sections 3.1–3.3), this chapter shows how an economic narrative common to both the English and French versions has taken shape. Rooted in social Darwinism, this narrative is framed in European and international business-speak, although the forms taken by the French variant—eurojargon—differ from those of English eurospeak (sections 3.4–3.6). The narrative legitimizes economic practices for producing “AI made in Europe”. However, the effects of translation into French (forced revelations and ideological transformations) show that although the AI presented in the French documents is fundamentally positive, it presupposes a somewhat different individual who resists the lifestyle politics laid out in the discourse (Sections 3.7 and 3.8).

Abstract
However, the effects of translation into French (forced revelations and ideological transformations) show that although the AI presented in the French documents is fundamentally positive, it presupposes a somewhat different individual who resists the lifestyle politics laid out in the discourse (Sections 3.7 and 3.8).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
