In the chapter Information Literacy: Searching, Certifying, Archiving and Sharing Information within the Semiosphere, Chiara Panciroli and Pier Cesare Rivoltella reinterpret Information Literacy in light of the complexity of today’s digital ecosystem. Drawing on the concept of the “semiosphere” as the cultural and symbolic environment in which signs circulate, the authors argue that informational competence extends beyond the technical ability to retrieve data and requires critical practices of selection, validation, organization, and sharing. The chapter examines four key operations—searching, certifying, archiving, and sharing—as interconnected dimensions of informed action. In a context characterized by information overload, misinformation, and algorithmically shaped communication flows, Information Literacy acquires ethical and civic relevance in addition to its cognitive dimension. Source verification and the construction of personal and collaborative archives emerge as practices of responsibility in knowledge management. From an educational perspective, the chapter provides operational guidelines for designing learning pathways aimed at fostering critical, reflective, and collaborative competencies, promoting active and informed digital citizenship.

Abstract
From an educational perspective, the chapter provides operational guidelines for designing learning pathways aimed at fostering critical, reflective, and collaborative competencies, promoting active and informed digital citizenship.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
