The paper deals with UN Security Council (SC) resolution 2601 (2021) providing some recommendations in order to guarantee the right to education for children during armed conflicts. It is argued that such a resolution has been enacted under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, rather than Chapter VI. Its main operational limits are pointed, with reference to the lack of innovation in respect of several well-established provisions of international humanitarian law and to its general – and generic – character. Some reflections are moreover developed on the effectiveness of the measures thus recommended.
