Wer sind die «guten Europäer»? Einige Bemerkungen zu einem Sinnbild Nietzsches

Nietzsche’s thinking is closely linked to symbols and figures. One of these is the good European. The first part of this article attempts to show how Nietzsche’s love of the surface is a love of the mask, and how philosophy for Nietzsche is a game of masks. The second part of the article attempts to show how the good European is one of Nietzsche’s fundamental masks. The good European is, in some ways, the realization of the man of knowledge. In this sense, questioning the good European lets us gain an understanding of Nietzsche’s experience of knowledge.
