Critical Discourse Analysis /Critical Discourse Studies

Abstract The article provides a state of the art overview of Critical Discourse Analysis, more recently Critical Discourse Studies (here referred to as CDA/S). CDA/S is an evolving, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary multi-methods field of inquiry concerned with the study of the relationship between language and power. The article defines the core concepts, tracing its origins, development, main theoretical approaches and analytical methods, applied and applicable to several domains and genres. It concludes with some limitations and critiques.
