In this entry, we report the state of the art in VAA research by first sketching what we know about the impact of VAAs on their users, especially on turnout and electoral choice. Having outlined the relevance of these tools for individual voting behavior, we turn to the making of VAAs and its implication on the effect of these tools, before we end with conclusions on normative implications of the findings for the makers of VAAs.
