Prisma (2022–2024) is one of Amazon Prime Video’s first original Italian series. Written by Ludovico Bessegato, already author of the Italian adaptation of SKAM Italia (2018–), and Alice Urciuolo, this young adult series tells the story of two monozygotic twins who defy gender norms and search for a proper place in the world. The analysis here is especially focused on the creative, narrative and productive ways that have been employed along the two seasons to differentiate the two twins (both performed by the same actor, Mattia Carrano). Thanks to in-depth interviews with the actor and the showrunner, some of the formal traits of innovation and originality of the series clearly emerge.
