This chapter will reflect on criminality through and within major seaports by reflecting on how ports have specific vulnerabilities, which facilitate different types of illegal or deviant behaviours. On the basis of research carried out in various seaports around the world (e.g. Genova, Gioia Tauro, Montreal, Melbourne, New York, Liverpool), this chapter will place the seaport at the centre of the analysis when investigating illicit trade by looking at both its relationship with the sea and its relationship with the city.

Abstract
This chapter will reflect on criminality through and within major seaports by reflecting on how ports have specific vulnerabilities, which facilitate different types of illegal or deviant behaviours. On the basis of research carried out in various seaports around the world (e.g. Genova, Gioia Tauro, Montreal, Melbourne, New York, Liverpool), this chapter will place the seaport at the centre of the analysis when investigating illicit trade by looking at both its relationship with the sea and its relationship with the city.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
