Mondi d'avventura. Teoria di un genere romanzesco

This volume explores the development of the adventure novel in modern Western fiction. The book moves in two directions. Firstly, it reconstructs the history of the genre and its transformations from a comparative perspective, examining a number of cases from different national literatures. Secondly, it focuses on theoretical issues that are crucial not only for the adventure novel, but also for the novel in general, such as the relationship between the novel and romance, the tension between history and fiction, and the contamination of different registers and modes of expression, which are particularly evident in twentieth-century adventure novels. Finally, it questions the contemporary developments of the genre.

Il volume indaga il romanzo d'avventura e i suoi sviluppi nella narrativa occidentale in epoca moderna. Il libro si muove in una duplice direzione. Da un lato, ricostruisce, in una prospettiva comparata e attraverso alcuni casi esemplari tratti da letterature nazionali diverse, la storia del genere e delle sue trasformazioni; dall'altro, mette a fuoco alcune questioni teoriche cruciali non solo per il romanzo d'avventura, ma più in generale per il romanzo stesso: il rapporto tra novel e romance, la tensione tra storia e finzione, la contaminazione tra diversi registri e modalità espressive che si ritrovano in particolare negli esiti novecenteschi del romanzo d'avventura, interrogandosi infine sulle evoluzioni contemporanee del genere.
