Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) encompasses various procedures that partially or completely remove external female genitalia or otherwise harm female genital organs for non-medical reasons. While the practice is primarily concentrated in parts of Africa and Asia, it remains a significant concern in the European Union due to migration from regions where FGM/C is still prevalent. This study examines the risk factors influencing the likelihood of FGM/C being perpetuated among future generations, considering both individual and contextual determinants. The analysis focuses on migrant women residing in Italy, exploring their attitudes toward the continuation of this practice.

Abstract
Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) encompasses various procedures that partially or completely remove external female genitalia or otherwise harm female genital organs for non-medical reasons. While the practice is primarily concentrated in parts of Africa and Asia, it remains a significant concern in the European Union due to migration from regions where FGM/C is still prevalent. This study examines the risk factors influencing the likelihood of FGM/C being perpetuated among future generations, considering both individual and contextual determinants. The analysis focuses on migrant women residing in Italy, exploring their attitudes toward the continuation of this practice.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
