Onychoscopy (nail dermatoscopy) plays a key role in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of most diseases of the nail apparatus, including onychomycosis, being an easy-to-perform, quick and non-invasive procedure. Although the definitive diagnosis of onychomycosis relies on mycology or histopathology, in poor settings where laboratory testing is not feasible, onychoscopy is a useful tool for the clinician [1,2].
