The Ars concionandi is one of the most renowned medieval artes praedicandi. Its fame owes to its 14th-century ascription to Bonaventure of Bagnoregio. This paper aims to present an overview of the work, along with its main critical issues. It also delivers a new partial edition of the pseudo-Bonaventuran recension of the text, based on a comprehensive study of the manuscript tradition, which encompasses three previously unknown witnesses. Additionally, the scrutiny of the tradition allows to revisit the genesis of the Ars concionandi, and to put forth new arguments against the Bonaventuran authorship.
