Note a Pascoli traduttore di Prudenzio, cath. 10,121-124

The essay examines the translation that Pascoli included in the second edition of his anthology Lyra (1899), and which is reproduced in the collection Traduzioni e riduzioni under the title La resurrezione in carne e in spirito. The peculiarities of the metre (which imitates the Latin anapestic cataleptic dimeter), of the Italian translation, and finally the importance for Pascoli of the evangelical theme, taken up by Prudentius, of the seed that must die in order to bear fruit, are analysed.

Il saggio esamina la traduzione che Pascoli inserisce nella seconda edizione dell’antologia Lyra (1899), e che è riprodotta nella raccolta Traduzioni e riduzioni con il titolo La resurrezione in carne e in spirito. Sono analizzate le particolarità del metro (che imita i dimetri anapestici catalettici latini), della traduzione italiana, e infine l’importanza per Pascoli del tema evangelico, ripreso da Prudenzio, del seme che deve morire per portare frutto.
