The essay analyzes the traces left by the artistic commission of the Dominican bishop and surgeon Teodorico Borgognoni. In particular it proposes a reconstruction of the tomb of Borgognoni within San Domenico Church, built at the end of the Duecento, at a time of great importance for the burial monuments in Bologna. However, the material evidences of his patronage - the bishop house located in Via del Riccio (the residence ‘painted with the Swans’), his tomb in San Domenico, the sacred vestments and the precious goldsmithing - are completely disappeared, at the present state of the studies. The reconstruction was carried out through the data and information provided by the documentary sources and the chronicles, which present a great personality, Teodorico Borgognoni, also in the Art history field.

Abstract
The essay analyzes the traces left by the artistic commission of the Dominican bishop and surgeon Teodorico Borgognoni. In particular it proposes a reconstruction of the tomb of Borgognoni within San Domenico Church, built at the end of the Duecento, at a time of great importance for the burial monuments in Bologna. However, the material evidences of his patronage - the bishop house located in Via del Riccio (the residence ‘painted with the Swans’), his tomb in San Domenico, the sacred vestments and the precious goldsmithing - are completely disappeared, at the present state of the studies. The reconstruction was carried out through the data and information provided by the documentary sources and the chronicles, which present a great personality, Teodorico Borgognoni, also in the Art history field.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
