The contribution presents the results of an experimentation conducted as part of the Iconog- raphy and Iconology Workshops of the Single Cycle Degree/combined Bachelor and Master in Primary Teacher Education of the University of Bologna, carried out in integrated pres- ence-distance mode. The contribution has a twofold objective: 1. to relate the different levels of image reading to the activation of specific cognitive dimensions by means of digital tools and in technological environments; 2. to understand, through experimentation with the administration of pre- and post-tests, the impact of the image reading process on the design and production of digital artefacts by future teachers.
