Large language models (LLMs) are powerful AI tools that can handle different kinds of information. This makes them useful for many things, but their complexity creates challenges in controlling them and ensuring they comply with legal rules. This paper examines the European regulatory approach to LLMs from both a general perspective and a more specific lens, addressing critical issues such as liability, privacy, and intellectual property rights. It evaluates whether the existing legal frameworks are sufficient to tackle the challenges posed by LLMs and suggests ways to improve them.

Abstract
Large language models (LLMs) are powerful AI tools that can handle different kinds of information. This makes them useful for many things, but their complexity creates challenges in controlling them and ensuring they comply with legal rules. This paper examines the European regulatory approach to LLMs from both a general perspective and a more specific lens, addressing critical issues such as liability, privacy, and intellectual property rights. It evaluates whether the existing legal frameworks are sufficient to tackle the challenges posed by LLMs and suggests ways to improve them.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
