Gli statuti delle Mercanzie

The essay takes stock of the studies done and to be done on the Statutes of the Mercanzie, an expression of a widespread phenomenon that characterized the north-central part of the Italian peninsula. In presenting the critical editions and scholarly works focused on this normative source, I have chosen to divide the Mercanzie into three blocks: those for which we have editions of the older statutes, which in this 30 year period have been a driving force for new studies and editorial revisions; those for which we have more recent editions; and those for which a critical edition of the statute law is still lacking.
