This chapter examines the interplay between mysticism and politics in Simone Weil’s work, with particular attention to her reflections on Occitan civilization. It argues that the reintroduction of transcendence in Weil’s thought is not merely the result of biographical or spiritual motives. Instead, it should be understood as a crucial component of her effort to expand the boundaries of modern political rationality.
