This chapter analyzes the theoretical relation between ‘crime’ and ‘politics’, with the aim to discuss the logic of the criminalization of activism and introduce the concept of sociopolitical innovation. To do this, the chapter uses theories and concepts related to critical criminology, the sociology of deviance (Melossi 2008), and Operaismo or ‘Italian political workerism’ (Wright 2002; Alquati 1994).
