The stature of Giuseppe Caputo (1936-1991) corresponds to that of a great intellectual who was capable of using the science of canon law as a magnifying glass through which he observed and reconstructed the parable of Western Europe, where the highest figure of our humanism is deposited. His profile emerges from the backdrop of the great fresco of the second half of the 20th century, which experienced the affirmation of technology and – in the making of a ‘new prehistory’ – the decline of the culture that religious restlessness had nourished by always addressing the sky. His anticipatory ability – a prerogative of superior minds – was combined with a passion for the place where, in the uninterrupted passage of generations, past and future converse: such place is the university, and in particular the Alma Mater that has known his extraordinary teaching and to the celebration of the history of which Giuseppe Caputo has contributed in no small way. In fact, in September 1988, in Piazza Maggiore, in front of six hundred rectors from all over Europe, he held the celebratory speech – exactly one century after the one given by Giosuè Carducci – for the Ninth Centenary of the University of Bologna.

Abstract
In fact, in September 1988, in Piazza Maggiore, in front of six hundred rectors from all over Europe, he held the celebratory speech – exactly one century after the one given by Giosuè Carducci – for the Ninth Centenary of the University of Bologna.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
