This essay presents the first results of a work still in progress focusing on MS London 5510 and on an exceptional reader of this manuscript, the Christian kabbalist Egidio da Viterbo. By studying Egidio’s annotations, it becomes clear that he was not writing a commentary for an audience, but that these were private annotations that he wrote for himself; their analysis allows to catch a glimpse into Egidio's working habits and to access his peculiar imaginary.
