O princípio esperança: poesia e sobrevivência em Agostinho Neto

The essay tackles, through an analytical reading of Sagrada esperança, two elements of Agostinho Neto's poetic view. The first, inspired by Ernst Bloch, based on a “principle of hope” that allows to read the utopian substrate and future desires from a materialistic basis of thought. This option provokes a strong impact from the stylistic point of view and affects the forms of the language of the poetic work. This focus allows as well to rethink the ontology of political poetry, showing in particular how the author’s options are capable of combining, by composition, heterogeneous elements of the poetry. The second element of survivals, besides the literal and singular meaning of the word, has a conceptual dimension that combines real and abstract layers and showing the resistance of a cultural, linguistic and political memory at risk. These elements offer another perspective of reading Agostinho Neto’s fundamental poetic work.
