The essay dwells on the act of writing and its visibility in an articulated framework that ranges from the unpublished texts of nuns in convents to the translation and commentary of the Psalms by Laura Battiferri and Chiara Matraini respectively, to the epistolary exchanges of actresses in the seventeenth century. Through an analysis of the essays, new re-readings of figures such as Caterina Sforza, Caterina Cornaro and Tarquinia Molza are also highlighted.
