Autosomal dominant nocturnal frontal lobe epilepsy (ADNFLE) is a peculiar type of inherited epilepsy characterized by frontal lobe seizures occurring predominantly during light sleep (Lugaresi et al. 1986; Scheffer et al. 1995). The prevalence of ADNFLE in the general population and its distribution in the different age classes is practically unknown. To date more than a hundred families have been described around the world (Picard and Scheffer 2005).
