The design and management of restoration and conservation interventions on archaeological assets have long been recognized as a complex and delicate activity due to the very nature of this heritage on and the urban and suburban contexts in which it is located. The need for multidisciplinary approaches and 'open' management to address unforeseen and new events that may occur during the execution is one of the key requirements for working in these fragile contexts, characterized by different vulnerabilities that often become evident during the work. These factors require, therefore, the drafting of a project in which specifications and price lists are up-to-date and appropriate to the place of work and consonant with the very nature of the works to be carried out. These must be designed in such a way as to ensure, for the different actors (designers, archaeologists, restorers and consultants of various kinds), coordinated work without waste of time and money. The paper analyzes these aspects by examining the issues that arose during the recently completed restoration/conservation work at the Populonia-Baratti Archaeological Park. It was a project that involved several Roman buildings of remarkable historical and artistic quality within the acropolis of Populonia, specifically the domus under the Loggias and the Balneum. The closing remarks highlight some of the aspects that have emerged from this experience and are considered crucial for a quality project. Among these, the need for multidisciplinary planning, the specialized expertise of designers, officials from the Superintendencies, and construction companies, the ability to manage ongoing project activities, especially during archaeological excavations, and the importance of care activities ensured by context-appropriate and easily manageable plans; these factors are essential for planning heritage preservation activities, as emphasized by both the Cultural Heritage Code and the new Italian Public Procurement Code.

Abstract
Among these, the need for multidisciplinary planning, the specialized expertise of designers, officials from the Superintendencies, and construction companies, the ability to manage ongoing project activities, especially during archaeological excavations, and the importance of care activities ensured by context-appropriate and easily manageable plans; these factors are essential for planning heritage preservation activities, as emphasized by both the Cultural Heritage Code and the new Italian Public Procurement Code.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
