The purpose of this contribution is to return to the scientific community the results of a research project on the history and memory of the ‘Sacro Cuore’ Kindergarten in Borgo Panigale (Bologna), a school institution that celebrated its centenary in 2022. The phases and contents of this initiative, which also turned into a history teaching and Public History of Education project involving the school community and citizenship, will be presented. It is intended here to reflect on some aspects of a Public History of Education understood as the valorization and communication of the historical-educational heritage solidly anchored in the rigor of scientific research, but also on some critical issues related to the multiple scenarios that are emerging and the kind of commitment required of university teachers for these public research actions, which is still decidedly underestimated.

Abstract
The purpose of this contribution is to return to the scientific community the results of a research project on the history and memory of the ‘Sacro Cuore’ Kindergarten in Borgo Panigale (Bologna), a school institution that celebrated its centenary in 2022.
