Although the plot linking the relationship between Epicurus and Aristotle in terms of reflection on rhetoric seems rather thin to us today, it is possible to recover from Philodemus the terms of Aristotle's polemic that reach back to Epicurus, and to understand how and to what extent Aristotle conditioned Epicurus' criticism of rhetoric.
