La trasparenza inganna. Big Little Lies

The article aims to analyse the social relationships represented in the dramatic tv show Big Little Lies (HBO production, 2017). The complexity and multiplicity of those relations are delivered with accurate strategies of multi-focalization throughout the seven episodes of the show. Another aim of the article is to underline how central are the social scape-goat dynamics and the importance of spatial settings – the luxury mansions of the female protagonists – and how these work as priviledged mirrors of their emotional life.

L’articolo analizza la rappresentazione dei rapporti sociali e familiari nella serie tv drammatica Big Little Lies (prodotta da HBO, 2017). La complessità e la molteplicità di tali rapporti è restituita attraverso accurate strategie di multi-focalizzazione disseminate lungo i sette episodi della serie. Inoltre si vuole mostrare come siano centrali le dinamiche connesse al capro espiatorio e infine l’importanza assunta dalle abitazioni – le ville lussuose delle protagoniste – e di come queste funzionino da specchio privilegiato della loro vita emotiva interiore.
