Abstract

Segmental myelitis in cats caused by agents belonging to the Phylum of the Apicomplexa is a rare condition. Hitherto only two cases have been reported in the early nineties in the USA, focusing on the pathology and characterization of the causative agents.1,2 We describe 2 feline cases of segmental myelitis caused by Toxoplasma gondii from Europe. This report presents clinical, serological, pathological, and immunocytochemical results as well as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, which, to our knowledge, have not been described before.
